About

Nigel Sutcliffe is a wildlife and landscape painter living in Port Alberni, B.C. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2011. Through his work he aims to capture the natural beauty that surrounds him on Vancouver Island.

He draws inspiration from hiking, kayaking, and painting on location “en plein air”.

Being fully immersed in the elements and observing wildlife in person allows him to translate that experience in to his studio work.

Primarily working in acrylics, his focus is on using bold and vibrant brushwork to capture natural textures and forms.

He hopes that his paintings can showcase the incredible landscapes and wildlife that call Vancouver Island home. A portion of his sales are donated to support local habitat restoration projects.
